Pocketbook Verse Pro Color

Design

Its compact plastic body allows you to store it in a handbag or pocket, making it perfect for travel. The design includes physical buttons that enhance navigation, aiding in a seamless reading experience.

Experts at Notebookcheck highlight its unique waterproof feature, ensuring the device stays safe even if it takes an accidental dip in water. At 182 grams, you can comfortably use it for extended reading sessions.

Screen

The e-ink display on offer combines sharp black and white resolution with vivid color for image-rich or color-coded content like comics. Reviewers appreciate the readability even in bright sunlight. “The e-ink display offers excellent contrast,” they note.

The adjustable front lighting with variable brightness and temperature ensures a comfortable read in any light condition, from dim rooms to sunny outdoors. This flexibility reduces eye strain and enhances long reading sessions.

Storage

You can store a library of up to 10,000 ebooks on the device with 16GB of storage, as reviewers noted.

While this is ample space for books, you might find it limited for audiobooks.

The device does not support expandable storage, but reviewers highlight that you receive 2GB of free cloud storage with the PocketBook Cloud.

Battery Life

This device gives you about 14 hours of continuous reading time with minimal lighting before the battery runs low.

Reviewers from Notebookcheck highlight that the charge time is around 90 minutes, making it easy to plug in and resume your reading quickly.

Good e-Reader notes, “Battery could be better,” reflecting the need for regular charges, especially with increased usage.

Software & File Format Support

With PocketBook’s store, you can browse, download samples, and purchase books directly. Just be prepared for slower browsing and input delays, though these don’t hinder the overall reading focus of the device.

Reviewers highlight its “wide range of supported formats,” from popular ones like EPUB and PDF to niche formats like DJVU and CBR, enabling you to access and enjoy varied content seamlessly.

The e-reader lacks app installation capabilities, and as Michael Kozlowski mentions, there’s “not much color content on the bookstore,” which adds the necessity of sideloading content.

Extras

Enjoy audiobooks with Bluetooth connectivity, letting you listen through wireless headphones or speakers. This makes your reading experience even more versatile.

As noted by reviewers, the optional audio capabilities “allow you to enjoy audiobooks via headphones,” making travel or relaxation more enjoyable without needing additional devices.

The Bottom Line

This device offers a compact 6-inch color display and supports a range of e-book and audio formats. Its user-friendly hardware buttons and Bluetooth connectivity enhance the reading and listening experience. Reviewers say it “provides great value for money,” with features like waterproof protection and page scrolling buttons. The strong battery allows extended reading sessions, while the color e-paper makes it ideal for comics.
