Onyx Boox Palma 2 Pro

Design

Reviewers appreciate the Onyx Boox Palma 2 Pro’s compact, pocket-friendly size, perfect for traveling light. The device feels comfortable and secure in one hand, offering a confident reading experience without the bulk.

Its textured back enhances grip, making it a breeze to hold for prolonged periods. “It s the most comfortable e-reader I ve ever used,” says Expert Reviews.

Though charming, its thick bezels give it a slightly outdated look, and the lack of stylus attachment leaves the pen easy to misplace.

Screen

This e-reader enhances your experience with a Kaleido 3 color e-ink display, allowing for color illustrations and media.

You’ll appreciate its adjustable backlight, which can shift between warm and cool tones for comfortable reading day or night, a feature warmly received by experts.

“The color display’s drawbacks are considerable,” one reviewer observed, noting the lower resolution in color mode but still valuing the added color for enhanced comprehension.

Storage

You get a generous 128GB of storage which is more than sufficient for vast collections of books and magazines.

Want more space? Add up to 2TB through a microSD card and carry nearly limitless content on-the-go.

Reviewers highlighted this flexibility, making it a standout feature. “Storage and battery life mean you can carry entire libraries,” experts agree.

Battery Life

The Boox Palma 2 Pro shines with strong battery life.

With typical use such as reading, checking emails, and browsing, the battery will comfortably last several days, with reviewers noting a ten percent drop per week after settings are optimized.

For intensive tasks, the battery depletes quicker, but experiencing a week’s use on a charge isn’t uncommon.

When charging is necessary, USB-C makes topping up hassle-free, allowing connections with readily available chargers. Experts note, “Battery life is great, offering several days before a charge is required” from AppleInsider, ensuring you stay untethered and connected.

Software & File Format Support

With Android 15 on board, you’ll access millions of apps through the Play Store, enabling the Boox Palma 2 Pro to seamlessly integrate reading apps like Kindle, Audible, and Kobo, as highlighted by reviewers.

The e-reader supports a vast array of file formats including EPUB, PDF, and various image formats, simplifying document management and making it a flexible choice for diverse reading materials.

Experts note that this e-reader “can handle just about any file,” easing concerns over downloading or sideloading books.

Extras

With the support for Boox’s InkSense stylus, the eReader provides a neat way to jot down quick notes or annotate documents. It’s perfect for capturing ideas on the move.

The stylus allows for precise and efficient writing, but the smooth screen could make writing feel less natural without added friction. Experts found this less ideal for extensive note-taking.

The magnetic cover helps keep the device safe from scratches. Reviewers appreciated this feature for everyday use but noted the cover magnets might feel weak, causing frequent detachment.

The Bottom Line

You’ll appreciate the lightweight design and pocket-friendly size, making it perfect for on-the-go reading and light productivity. The color display adds a fresh dimension to digital magazines and web content, though some reviewers found the color quality lacking, describing it as “washed out” and less vibrant than expected. Available online for a slightly higher price than its predecessor, it’s best for those who desire a versatile reading device without heavy video use or lengthy note-taking.

Support for Android apps and a good battery life enhance its appeal, yet remember it sacrifices display sharpness for color. “The color has its place,” noted one reviewer, acknowledging the practical benefits despite some visual compromises.
