In Depth
The Amazon Kindle Keyboard, formerly called the Amazon Kindle 3G+Wi-Fi, offers all the joys and woes found in a typical Kindle Wi-Fi, but it also allows you to download books anywhere, anytime without the hassle of tracking down a Wi-Fi hotspot. This comes through a fast, reliable 3G connection and the best part is that this service is absolutely free.
There are a couple of catches to this 3G offering, however. It weighs in at 0.2 ounces heavier than the traditional Kindle, which you would probably never notice. The bigger problem is that battery life is cut in half when you are using 3G. This still allows for ten days of reading without a recharge and can be further extended if the 3G connection is turned off when not in use.
